NBA player Charlie Bell on Tuesday downplayed reports that he had been stabbed with a box cutter by his estranged wife, former Miss Michigan, Kenya Bell.
Reports surfaced Monday saying the Golden State Warriors guard had been attacked by the ex-beauty queen, but Bell dismissed the alleged incident in a Twitter posting.
"I'm fine. I didn't get stabbed. Lol. #thatisall," Bell wrote.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Kenya Bell was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly attacked her husband with a box cutter at his home near Flint, Michigan, Sunday.
Prosecutor David Leyton told the Free Press Charlie Bell suffered only minor injuries. He also told the Detroit paper two children were present at the time of the attack.
Kenya Bell, 35, who was crowned Miss Michigan USA in 2001, was reportedly released from jail Monday.
Her estranged husband joins a growing list of professional athletes who have fallen victim to alleged domestic attacks in recent weeks.
