Women Arrested for Buying a Baby on Layaway

Your Black World reports

Two women in West Texas have been arrested for allegedly engaging in child trafficking.  The women are being accused of buying and selling a 7-week old baby on a payment plan.

Police in Abilene, Texas say that the mother of the baby is Joana Delacruz Huerta, who is accused of selling her child to 27-year old Marilu Munoz.  She was charged with the sale or purchaseof an infant, which is a third-degree felony.

The baby was, according to police, sold for $2,000 on a payment plan.  The payments were scheduled to occur after the sale of the child in September.

Police Sgt. Lynn Beard says Huerta reportedly sold the baby for $2,000 on an “installment plan” with scheduled payments. According to the Abilene police report, the sale of the child occurred in September.  The child has been taken into protective custody and both women face up to 10 years and a $10,000 fine.

  1. That is ridiculous! I have 4 children and could NEVER even think of selling them for any amount of money if I had to starve for the rest of my life. Children are a precious gift from God and should not be bought and sold.
